We strongly encourage bidders to inspect any/all items or vehicles of interest as most items offered for sale are used and may contain defects not immediately detectable. Items can only be viewed by making an appointment by phoning the Auction Manager, Susan Schorr, at 805-963-3364 ext. 263, Monday-Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The successful bidder will be responsible for the packing, loading and/or transporting of any item(s), if necessary. It is the winning bidder's responsibility to arrange all necessary equipment/ help from an outside source that has the equipment to remove items from our site.
The successful bidder will be responsible for removal or pick-up of item(s) from 550 Cota St., Santa Barbara, CA. Removal must occur within ten (10) business days after notification of award of the winning bid. The notice of award, the payment receipt, and personal identification must be presented at the time of pick-up, or SBMTD will not release the item to you. Pick-up hours are by appointment only.
Pick up days are by appointment Monday thru Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. NO EXCEPTIONS.
At time of pick up bidder must bring Notice of Award, Payment Receipt and a Valid California Identification. If someone is picking up item(s) for the bidder, they must bring a letter from the bidder identifying them as the person that is picking up item(s) for the bidder.

Public Surplus receives and processes ALL payments and will notify buyer of receipt of payment via email. NO CASH, CHECKS, OR MONEY ORDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED by the MTD! Payment for an awarded item must be received within five (5) business days after notice of award of the winning bid.
Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District will charge state/local sales tax of 8%. See Terms and Conditions for details on sales tax and smog-related responsibility.
A Buyers Premium of 10% will be added to the final sale price with a $1 minimum charge per auction for payment collections.
