Vehicle Description – 2010 Ford Explorer
This 2010 Ford Explorer was removed from service with 67,022 miles. The vehicle has been used as a patrol unit for its entire service life and remains operational, running and driving at the time of listing.
Condition Notes:
- Body & Exterior:
The vehicle shows typical wear consistent with age and use, including scrapes and dents. There is peeling paint along the roof and within the door jambs. Significant rust is present on the driver’s side front floor pan due to a long-term windshield leak that went undetected. The driver’s side kick panel (beneath the seam between the front and rear doors) is rusted through. - Engine & Performance:
Due to prolonged idling and low-speed patrol use, the engine exhibits noise. It rattles and knocks when hot and under load at low speeds. The engine also has an oil leak from the oil pan gasket. The air filter is dirty and requires replacement. The vehicle may occasionally hesitate during acceleration. - Transmission & Drivetrain:
The transmission shifts hard at times and is leaking fluid from the tail shaft and pan gasket. The front differential is leaking from both input shafts. - Operational Status:
The vehicle starts, runs, and drives. There are currently no warning lights illuminated on the dashboard. It passed emissions testing last fall without issue.
Additional Information:
Prospective bidders are encouraged to inspect the vehicle in person prior to bidding.
