Model 54-6001 Rinn DXTTR Dental X-Ray Training Manikin Head. [1, 2]

Device Purpose and Usage
• Patient Simulator: The system serves as a "phantom" patient to teach dental assistant, hygiene, and radiology students how to properly perform intraoral radiography without requiring human subjects.
• Anatomical Realism: The manikin incorporates a plastic bone skull with firmly anchored teeth, slightly resilient flexible gums, and vinyl skin to mimic the exact density, positioning challenges, and radiographic characteristics of a real patient. [1]
• Radiation Safety: Because it is an inanimate trainer, students can practice positioning, alignment, and exposure settings repeatedly without exposing a human to radiation burden.
• Technique Training: Instructors use it to demonstrate proper alignment of color-coded aiming rings and bite blocks (such as the Rinn XCP system) for taking precise periapical, bitewing, or endodontic X-ray images.
The steel bars and specialized custom molding visible in the carrying case are used to clamp and lock the heavy manikin head down securely to a dental training chair or lab desk.
